Questions About Microcurrent Therapy

Currently there is not a billing code for microcurrent therapy in this capacity, thus there is no way to bill an insurance company or Medi-Cal for this service.

Our microcurrent machines are FDA approved and completely safe for individuals of all ages. In fact, Microcurrent Healing has a full program specifically tailored to children. Our machines can only administer current at the same frequencies of the body's natural electrical system. Additionally, thanks to the input/output technology, the body is essentially "telling" the instrument the exact frequency it needs. For precaution's sake, we will not work with women who are pregnant, and anyone with a demand pacemaker or VNS is required get their cardiologist's/neurologist's written approval before beginning therapy.

Most people with non-chronic injuries or pain will see excellent results with 3-6 sessions. Chronic ailments or neurological issues generally require more, and on average, we have seen that 12 sessions over a one-month period tends to provide excellent and lasting results. Though every body responds differently to therapy as results are determined by a number of variables, including your overall health, the issue being treated, diet, and other lifestyle factors.

Most patients feel either nothing at all, or only a slight tapping sensation at the points on the body where the electrodes are placed. Some experience a slight "prickling" sensation which is generally not painful. Our technicians adjust intensity levels to each patient's comfort level, in order to minimize any discomfort.

No. Microcurrent instruments are the only electrical stimulation devices that administer a small enough current that will interact with the individual cells of the body. Additionally, our specific microcurrent devices are equipped with advanced feedback technology, enabling our devices to detect areas in the body that aren't receiving or conducting clear electrical signals, and then target those specific areas with corrective signals. TENS devices operate with a much larger current designed to overload nerves and numb the area being targeted. Thus they are basically bombardment devices, meaning they are NOT able to receive biofeedback and they are administering such a large current that cells cannot effectively respond to it.

Many patients come to us because they are frustrated with the lack of positive results with current treatments, or because they are tired of treating the symptom rather than the cause of their ailment. As such, it's quite likely that the need for other treatments will be greatly reduced or eliminated altogether. However, microcurrent is not contradicting to the use of other therapies. In fact, microcurrent therapy couples perfectly with Chiropractic care and Physical Therapy. Our sessions enable patients to sustain a chiropractic adjustment longer, and they increase patients’ range of motion and decrease discomfort during PT sessions. As such, you are welcome to continue any other treatment methods that you feel are effective.

You will complete a medical history form and then usually meet with our staff practitioner for about 15 minutes to review your medical history and assess your overall health. Then you will be introduced to the technology in a relaxing, spa-like environment as our technician administers your first session. For adults, please expect most sessions to take 30-45 minutes. For children, sessions only last about 20-30 minutes.

Every person responds differently, as our bodies are all very different. That said, 80-90% of patients report positive results, such as a reduction in pain and swelling and other negative symptoms, after only one session. Nearly all other patients notice these improvements after their second or third session. A tiny number (less than 5%) of patients do not respond to therapy, which is almost always caused by outside health factors (and because we value your satisfaction, we will assess and help guide a course of action to help remedy the situation, if that occurs). Due to the rapid detoxification of damaged cells and those toxins flooding the body’s circulatory system, a few patients report feeling fatigue, headache, and/or nausea for a few hours/days after therapy, but this typically subsides quickly. Staying hydrated throughout the course of your therapy program greatly helps to flush out these toxins and minimize these side effects.
